Dear members of the SBFC, I wish to beg forgiveness of the Club members for my lack of participation in the last few months. Two recent losses of family members and my own uncertain health have kept me housebound for a number of months. Now that the club has been approved by the CKC it is time to get moving! In order to apply for a National Specialty we will need the Sanctioned Matches to take place sometime this summer. As soon as that is accomplished we will need to apply for the Specialty priority date and that application needs to reach the CKC no later than six months prior to the requested date. Prior to all that, of course, we must decide as a club where the show will take place, who will judge and with which all breed show. It's a lot to do in a relatively short time. I need to hear from everyone as to their recommendations for the judge and the venue and also from those members who had offered to hold the matches. Once I have heard from the membership we will put an official ballot together and mail it out to all the members. Please participate in your Club!! The next order of business will be to hold a general election so please think about offering your services as a Club Officer. You can place your name on the ballot or you can have someone nominate you. Your Club needs you! Thank you, Giselle |

Information
Please follow the link below to
find a membership application form, renewal or new.
Printing the form out and
mailing it in to the club will save the club postage.
This way we only have to have one mail out confirming membership with membership cards. Thanks for your understanding and continued support. http://www.freewebs.com/saintfanciersmb/membership.htm |

Member Comment I see that the
club has now been officially recognized by the CKC. I know
we have a constitution but do we have a code of ethics? Are
we going to have guidelines for breeding, health-testing,
etc.? I would like to see a minimum age for breeding set for
both males and females, strong recommendations for testing
hips, elbows, eyes, etc. The Canadian Mastiff Club has
mandatory testing for these and more. The dog doesn't have
to pass the tests but must be tested to be bred. That way,
you and generations to come, know what to expect in the
descendants.
Travelling http://www.dogfriendlyhotels.org/ http://www.pawsperouspets.com/ Caution You probably meant to be kind by taking your pet with you today, but you could be risking his life! A pet's normal body temperature is between 38 and 39 degrees Celcius. A pet, like a child can only withstand a higher body temperature for a very short time before suffering irreparable brain damage-or even death. On a hot summer day the air inside of a car heats up very quickly. On an 29 degree day, for example, the temperature inside your car-with the windows slightly open-will reach 49 degrees. On warmer days it will go even higher! The superheated air in a closed car interferes with the pet's normal cooling process. Unlike humans, dogs d not perspire to cool their bodies down-they pant. When the air they intake is overheated the evaporation that usually occurs during panting does not take place and the body temperature rises If your pet is overcome by heat exhaustion you can give immediate first aid by immersing him or her in cold water then immediately transport to your Vet
